Donations
If you are cleaning out your closet … or replacing some of your furniture … or moving to a smaller home … donating your no-longer-needed items to the Casa de los Niños Thrift Store is a GREAT way to help the children of Tucson.
We happily accept most items if (1) they are “gently used,” (2) reasonably marketable and (3) not hazardous. If you are unsure if your donation is appropriate, just call us. We will be happy to answer your questions.
You can request a pickup or you may bring donations to the Thrift Store during regular business hours.

Vehicle Donations
Casa de los Niños accepts vehicles, RV’s, motorcycles, boats and most trailers. We have a quick and easy method of picking up your donation. Just call us at (520) 325-2573 and we will arrange for a pickup.
Tax Deductions
Check first with your tax preparer, but it is permissible to claim income tax deductions for the re-sale value of most items donated to a non-profit organization. That said, we offer this small word of warning. You must estimate the value of these items. You are responsible for answering any inquiries or substantiating any deductions claimed on your returns. Casa de los Niños is prohibited by law from estimating the value of any donated item.
Donations of vehicles, RVs, motorcycles, boats and trailers are also tax deductible. Donors should know, however, that IRS guidelines have recently changed when it comes to vehicle donations. Most such vehicles are sold at public auction, with proceeds from the sale going to the charity. You may only claim the amount realized from the auction of your vehicle – NOT the Kelly Blue Book value of the vehicle when donated. In most cases, the auction price is less than the Blue Book price for donated vehicles. Please refer to the following websites for more information:
