Tucson Safe Baby
A grassroots, multi-disciplinary group under the coordination of Casa de los Niños that works to ensure community awareness about the Safe Baby Program. The Safe Baby Program was passed by the Arizona Legislature in April 2001. In a legal exception to prosecution for abandonment a woman (or a representative) can hand over an unwanted newborn within 72 hours of birth to a safe place including Casa de los Niños, retain her anonymity—and prevent the tragedy of newborn death.
