Comprehensive assessment and therapeutic interventions are provided to very young children (birth to 5 years) exposed to violence, abuse, neglect or other traumatic experiences.
In fiscal year 2013, Great Beginnings provided services to 172 children.
Research shows that the vast majority of brain development occurs in the first 3 years of life and interruptions to normal development can have life-long negative effects.
Thanks to our work with local mental health agencies, Child Parent Centers and with the Victims of Crime Act, our infant mental health specialists treat emotional trauma immediately…before it leads to other behaviors.
BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES
Behavioral health treatment including assessments, counseling, psychiatric care, medication, and support and rehabilitation services are provided to eligible children and young adults under the age of 22. Casa de los Niños provides in-home, after hour and weekend services to meet the needs and schedules of the families we serve.
In fiscal year 2013, Behavioral Health Services served 2,674 children.
Casa works with community partners in over 30 subcontracting relationships to provide a comprehensive array of services for children with behavioral health needs.
Many of the region’s most experienced child-serving agencies are partners in this effort. In addition to Casa de los Niños, primary service providers include the Easter Seals Blake Foundation and Our Family Services which bring together more than 100 years of experience in providing high-quality, clinically sound, family-focused treatment of the children and families in the Greater Tucson area. Presidio Counseling, a well-recognized counseling agency established in 1999, became part of the Casa de los Niños therapy practice in 2012.
Casa de los Niños is considered a key provider of specialty expertise in Infant Mental Health, Parent Child Assessment, Child Abuse, Juvenile Sexual Offender, Play Therapy, and Child Sexual Abuse Services. A multi-disciplinary team, including the family, works to establish a treatment plan that will help children with behavioral health needs improve their lives.
Casa de los Niños Behavioral Health Services is comprehensive service provider in Pima County, funded through the Community Partnership of Southern Arizona. CPSA manages the system of publicly-funded behavioral health services for children, adults and families in Pima County. It receives funding from the Arizona Dept. of Health Services, Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
