Behavioral Health

Our newest program is Casa de los Niños Behavioral Health Services, which focuses on foster children and former foster children under the age of 22.

Four of the region’s most experienced agencies are partners in this effort. In addition to Casa de los Niños, primary service providers include the Easter Seals Blake Foundation, Presidio Counseling and Our Family Services. Together, these organizations have more than 100 years of experience in providing high-quality, clinically sound, family-focused treatment of the children and families in the Greater Tucson area.

Casa de los Niños Behavioral Health Services is funded through the Community Partnership of Southern Arizona. CPSA manages the system of publicly-funded behavioral health services for children, adults and families in Pima County. It receives funding from the Arizona Dept. of Health Services, Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Services

The goal of Casa de los Niños Behavioral Health Services is to provide the care young people need … when they need it. Services will be provided in the language best suited to the member. That would include English, Spanish and any other language that could be facilitated by a telecommunications interpreter. These services include:

  • In-home assessments and interviews.
  • Individual, family and group counseling.
  • Crisis care.
  • Respite care.
  • Case management.
  • Substance abuse treatment
  • School-based counseling services,
  • and many more!

Eligibility

Casa de los Niños Behavioral Health Services helps children, adolescents and young adults under 22 who are eligible for services through AHCCCS insurance and the Arizona Dept. of Health Services’ Division of Behavioral Health Services. We focus on members who are or have been involved in foster care.

Referral Information

Guardians, caregivers, schools and other community service providers may make referrals directly to Casa de los Niños Behavioral Health Services. Referrals may also come from Child Protective Services, hospitals and SAMHC Behavioral Health Services. Intakes for eligible recipients are scheduled within seven days of referral.

Smart Support

Casa de los Ninos Behavioral Health Services and our partner agencies have a variety of affiliations that link professionals in the behavioral health field. One of them is “Smart Support,” a program offered by the Easter Seals Blake Foundation and Southwest Human Development. Smart Support partners early childhood mental health consultants with child care providers to enhance the classroom environment and improve overall quality. Smart Support is funded by First Things First, a voter-approved initiative that uses state tobacco tax funds to help children.
