Group Volunteer Activities

Visit with the children in our shelter and provide an activity. Groups are asked to bring all the necessary supplies for the activity. All group members must be at least 16 years of age to participate.

Activities can include, but are not limited to:

  • Exercise the Heart and Mind – share yoga, dancing & music (age appropriate please), play tag
  • Teambuilding – has your group done a cool teambuilding exercise that kids would enjoy?
  • Fitness for Kids – relay racing, jumping jacks, stretching, catch
  • Game Night – bring various board games to play –age appropriate
  • Career Exploration – share what you do at work, bring examples or tools (ie, a Nurse can talk about basic hygiene, bring band-aids and let children listen to their own hearts with a stethoscope)
  • Simple Science Experiments
  • Arts & Craft Projects – no sew pillows, potato stamps, beading or other creative ideas
  • Think of your own hobbies – can you adapt it to children?

Help us catch the “reading bug!” Have each group member bring their favorite childhood book to read to a child (we have ones too). Then, complete an activity related to the book.

FUNd a fieldtrip! Our kids love to experience places like Pump It Up, the zoo, Desert Museum, water parks and more. Your group can fund a fieldtrip and tag along for fun!

Host a BBQ, pizza party or ice cream social. You bring the food, we’ll provide the fun! All items must be store bought and it their unopened, original container.  You may want to add a jumping castle or carnival type games for even more fun!

Clean, sanitize and organize. Our staff is always keeping things nice and tidy, but we like to “deep clean” once a month to keep our children healthy. Your group can help clean toys, rotate clothes for different seasons, or organize supplies.

Landscaping…keep our buildings spruced up! Help pull weeds, rake, trim hedges.

Have a Wish List “drive.”

All group members must be at least 16 for activities on site.

Groups do not need to complete an application or screening process.
