Casa de los Niños needs your help.

Casa de los Niños needs your help to reach our long-term goal of providing high-quality, integrated care to the families of Southern Arizona. We are building a new Family Center on our campus at 4th Ave. and Speedway to meet the growing needs of our community.

Invest in the health of our community – now and for generations to come by contacting Lisa Webster, our Director of Development and Community Relations, at 520-624-5600 or lisaw@casadelosninos.org.

The new Cole & Jeannie Davis Family Center will have a dramatic impact, allowing us to break the legacy of abuse and neglect for future generations of families. – Susie Huhn, M.A.
Chief Executive Officer
I was brought up to believe that, as a community, we must help those who cannot help themselves. Our new Family Center will provide the best resources available to children and families who need it most. – William Estes III,
Capital Campaign Chair
Invest in the future of our community.
  • The Cole & Jeannie Davis Family Center will bring together programs and resources from across Tucson to support our mission of preventing child abuse and neglect.
  • The 39,000 sq. ft., two-story integrated Family Center will include more than 20,000 sq. ft. of space for therapeutic child and family services.
  • Over 6,000 sq. ft. of meeting space will be available to host community educational lectures and events, and to provide free parent education classes.
  • 9,000 sq. ft. of space will allow staff to do the vital administrative and support work to help children and families in need.
A comprehensive family center.

A comprehensive family center has been Casa de los Niños’ long-held goal. Over the past 20 years we have deliberately acquired all of the adjacent land on the block.

Why build?

  • The need is tremendous and we have the space and the infrastructure to build and fully utilize a new Family Center.
  • Renting space is a short-term fix, not a strategic solution, and not the best use of our resources. We currently rent over 30,000 sq. ft. around Tucson at a cost that exceeds $50,000 per month.
  • Families and children will benefit from a comprehensive campus.
  • We can provide a unified source of support for lives rocked by abuse and neglect.
  • The new Family Center will allow us to quickly respond to changes in funding, programs and community needs.

We can help families stay together!

Planning for the future.

We are witnessing a tremendous growth in the number of children removed from their homes and reports of abuse/neglect are overwhelming the state’s resources.

Arizona’s child and family welfare care system is staggering under an unprecedented case load of more than 5,000 children. Disjointed services have a less effective long-term impact. A full range of resources is required to meet the challenge. Families are best served with integrated prevention, intervention and treatment programs.

Casa de los Niños is ready to respond with a solution. The Family Center will bring together programs and resources from across Tucson to support our mission of preventing child abuse and neglect. Families are best served with this integrated approach.

The effects of childhood trauma can last a lifetime.

Those abused or neglected during childhood are at increased risk of life-long medical, emotional, and social problems; they are more likely to experience physical or mental illness, substance abuse and incarceration.

Abused children are

  • 25% more likely to experience teen pregnancy
  • 59% more likely to be arrested as a juvenile
  • 28% more likely to be arrested as an adult
  • 30% more likely to commit a violent crime

Those who have been abused are at greater risk of abusing their own children; abuse is a tragic inter-generational legacy. Casa de los Niños is changing lives by empowering families to become more stable and better able to cope with the stresses of daily life. Our community benefits from having healthier, happier, more productive residents; our goal is a healthier community with fewer demands on medical services, social services, and the judicial system.

Prevention pays big dividends.

Prevention pays big dividends by eliminating costly, difficult-to-treat problems before they arise. Early intervention and treatment help reduce the impact of long-term problems and keep an abused child from becoming an abusive parent. Casa de los Niños must continue to improve the quality and capacity of its services to meet the community’s needs. The new Family Center will build the foundation to focus on vital prevention resources that cost $5,000 – $6,000 per year to provide, versus the more than $30,000 annual cost of a child removed from their home.
