Job Summary:

***PRN/ON CALL POSITION*** The Visitation Transporter is responsible for coordinating and providing transportation for children to and from visitation appointments. This position is also a part of Family Visitation Services and assists the staff in clerical functions for the program as needed.

Essential Duties:

The Visitation Transporter is responsible for transporting children to and from visitation appointments.  This position is responsible for gathering the necessary information needed (addresses, maps, emergency phone numbers, etc.) and presenting promptly at the appointed pick-up or drop-off time.  This position is responsible for accurately communicating pertinent case information from other care professionals (foster providers, group homes, kinship placements) to the visitation staff.

  • Must drive and/or transport clients on behalf of Casa de los Niños.
  • Ability and attitude to work and respond to the needs of a culturally diverse population.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping and documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining pertinent case information.
  • Assist in sharing the information between additional care staff and the visitation staff.
  • Coordinate and schedule the volunteers that are involved in the transportation program.
  • Gather the necessary information and provide safe and timely transportation to and from appointments.
  • Needs to have an understanding of the state laws regarding child safety and working knowledge on how to operate a variety of different child safety seats and correct use for age and size.
  • Remain with the child during the transportation and provide emotional and physical support as needed.
  • Perform other clerical duties as assigned including, but not limited to copying, mailing, phone messages, filing, faxing and typing

Standard of Performance:

The Visitation Transporter is responsible to perform those duties as outlined under the essential duties in the job description and in compliance with agency licensing standards.

Qualifications:

The position requires a High School Diploma or G.E.D and experience in working with children.  The position also requires current CPR Certification, Bloodborne Pathogen training and First Aid training plus an understanding of the use of wheel chairs, other assistive devices and special medical equipment as needed.  This position requires a current Arizona Drivers License and must qualify for coverage by the agency’s automobile insurance carrier and be able to pass the agency’s screening for driving on Casa business or transporting children in Casa vehicles.  The ability to interact in a clear and professional manner with other care providers is essential.  The physical demands of the job require a significant amount of physical lifting, bending, standing, and walking.
